The ELLE gala, which was established in 1998, is the biggest fashion event of the year. At the gala, Sweden's most important fashion prize is awarded in about fifteen categories. The purpose of the ELLE gala is to increase interest in fashion, support Swedish fashion designers and draw attention to the Swedish fashion industry both in Sweden and internationally.

For the past 12 years, the ELLE gala has traditionally taken place on a Friday in January at the Grand Hotel in Stockholm. Awards and fashion shows take place in front of a seated audience in Vinterträdgården, followed by a party with food and drinks served in Spegelsalen.
ELLE invites about 1000 opinion-forming guests from the fashion and media industry. Over 100 of Sweden's leading stylists, models, hair and makeup artists work backstage.
