The Yale Daily News is the nation’s oldest college daily newspaper and has been financially and editorially independent since its founding on January 28, 1878. It publishes Monday through Friday during the academic year and serves the communities of Yale and New Haven, Connecticut.

The News is the primary division of the Yale Daily News Publishing Co., which is headed by the News’ editor in chief & president. Its nearly 300-person staff works across print and digital media, including photography, illustrations, video, podcasts and data journalism. The News is divided into 20 desks, most led by one to three editors who typically have a year of experience in their respective area. Editors steer coverage and production efforts of their staff members and regularly work with contributors, including those in the process of joining the News’ staff.
