The Ithaca Journal

Media · News · United States

The Ithaca Journal is the hometown newspaper for Ithaca, NY and the surrounding Tompkins County area. It is distributed in the morning, six days a week, Monday through Saturday.

Founded in 1815 as the Seneca Republican, it was renamed The Ithaca Journal in 1823. The first daily edition of the paper was published in 1870 and its offices are housed in the same building it has occupied since 1905. The Journal was purchased by Frank Gannett in 1912, becoming the second local newspaper of what is now Gannett Co., Inc.

Our website, ithacajournal.com, together with our digital mobile and tablet digital platforms, provides breaking news, photos and videos and other content not appearing in the print newspaper.

We care about the needs of our readers, our advertisers, our employees and the people of our community. We recognize that we achieve our greatest success by producing quality news products and by helping to make our community a better place.
